Neighbour arrested for raping 5-yr-old

Police have arrested 34-year-old Sanjay Kumar for allegedly raping a five year-old girl before leaving her bleeding on the roadside in Mauli Jagran on Wednesday night.


The police nabbed Sanjay after the victim identified him. He was produced before the district court which sent him to two-day police remand for further investigation in the matter.

As per sources, victim's neighbour Sanjay took the girl to an abandoned area on the pretext of buying her a chocolate, while she was playing outside her residence at Rajiv Colony, Panchkula. The accused then allegedly raped her.

The accused lives alone in a rented accommodation and was drunk when he raped the victim.

The victim was noticed by a passerby, Gulshan, while she was lying in a pool of blood and her face covered with a cloth. He informed to the police, who rushed her to Manimajra civil hospital.

After conducting the victim's medical examination, doctors declared that she had been raped. Injury marks were also present on her body, the doctors said.

Meanwhile, the victim's father, who is a labourer, said his daughter was playing outside of his residence late in the evening.

However, when she did not come back we started searching for her in the locality. After sometime, a police official informed him that his daughter had been raped and she was in the hospital.

Education dept to hire consellors to tackle violence
