Newborn girl found abandoned

A day-old girl was found abandoned in a dustbin at Railla village in Sector 12 on Tuesday morning. Around 7 am, some passersby heard the cries of the girl. They took the girl to General Hospital, Sector 6, where she has been kept under observation. She is stated to be out of danger.

The hospital authorities had informed the police about it. A case under Section 317 ( for abandoning a child) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Sector 5 police station.

Woman falls victim to hit and run
A 70-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by an unidentified car on Tuesday morning. Police sources said the victim, a dweller of Colony Number 4, was hit by the car near the Industrial Area. The victim was identified as Rukmani, who worked as a maid.

The victim was spotted lying in a pool of blood by a passerby, who informed the police. She was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where she was declared brought dead. Police said there were no eyewitnesses to the incident. A case under Section 304 A of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified car driver at the Industrial Area police station.
