A group clash that started on court premises on August 8 is showing no signs of dying down.

The third manifestation of the clash between the groups, one led by Rajat Sharma and the other led by Lawrence Bishnoi, with both having past connections with the Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU) was seen at Kharar, when the sister of Kevin Sushant, an associate of Rajat Sharma, was attacked by members of the other group.

Two shots were fired in the air and a petrol bomb was hurled at the house. The police said the incident took place when the woman was alone at her house.

The youth could not be identified and fled as soon as the neighbours reached the spot.

Police have inspected the crime scene after the incident and registered a case against unidentified persons.

DSP JS Cheema said an FIR has been lodged and an investigation is on. The clashes are the result of groupism and factionalism among students and the rivalry has been on the boil for a few years now.
