The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) for the time being has delayed the announcement of new tariff for the electricity consumers.

The Punjab government has to commit to the subsidy for the agricultural sector and as there is code of conduct in force in the state in view of Lok Sabha election, thus it can’t finalize such proposal. Thus, the decision has been delayed.

The power re gulator on Friday issued orders that the existing tariff would continue for all categories of consumers till the new tariff is announced.

The tariff order of April 4 issued last year for the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL) for the year 2013-14 was to remain operative till March 31.
