Punjab and Haryana continued to reel under intense heat wave conditions on Tuesday with mercury soaring several notches above normal in several parts of the two states.
Hisar in Haryana and Ludhiana in Punjab were the hottest places as they recorded maximum of 46 degrees Celsius each, Met department said on Tuesday.
Among other places in Haryana, Ambala had a high of 44.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees above normal while Karnal recorded 45 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal.
Bhiwani and Narnaul settled at 43.8 and 42.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar registered 45.6 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal, while Patiala settled at 45.1 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 44.3 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal.
Met department said heat wave conditions will continue in Punjab and Haryana while weather will remain dry in next 24 hours.
