The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) held a rally from the biomedical sciences department to the Student Centre on Tuesday afternoon. A large number of students participated in the rally.

This was the only rally NSUI has been allowed to carry out on the main campus. NSUI leaders said the rally was taken out from the department keeping in view PUSU fielding the presidential candidate from there.

Former student council president and NSUI leader Chandan Rana also comes from the same department and had got 507 votes in the elections out of total 750 votes polled in 2013 student council elections.

Addressing the workers, NSUI national coordinator, Berinder Dhillon exhorted the supporters to campaign aggressively in their departments and brief them about their achievements in the past one year.

Meanwhile, the Student Organisation of India (SOI) alliance, which is giving a tough fight to the National Students of India (NSUI) on the south campus, held a rally at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) on Tuesday.

A large number of supporters participated in the rally, with students from UIET as well as from main campus. Addressing the party supporters, the leaders introduced the panel, including its presidential candidate Rachit Duggal, to students.

The alliance leaders also spelt out their agenda of securing 1,000 plus votes from UIET. The entire area outside the UIET canteen was littered with party stickers while hundreds of them were thrown in the air. The student workers had brought sacks full of stickers. The workers also pasted party stickers at the entrance of UIET.

Officials said the entire event had been videographed and they would take action, if any violation was reported.
