On girlfriend’s birthday, youth murdered by her relatives

Going to village of his girlfriend to wish her on her birthday cost a 20-year-old boy his life at Koyal village of Jind district on Monday.

The victim, identified as Sonu Kumar, was a resident of Noch village of Kaithal district. As per details, the victim had gone to wish his girlfriend on her birthday to her village.

When Sonu was with his girlfriend, they were spotted by a member of the girl’s family, who called in more male members.

The accused gheraoed the victim and kept raining bamboo sticks till he died.

In the meantime, village sarpanch Rameshwar, a kin of the girl, was informed about the incident. By the time the sarpanch reached the spot, the victim was lying unconscious.

The accused kept beating the victim even in the presence of the sarpanch. Later, police were informed, who reached the spot and took possession of body and sent it for the post-mortem.

Narwana, DSP Puran Chand Pawar said that a murder case had been registered against some people, including village sarpanch Rameshwar, based on the complaint of victim’s family members.
