One pilgrim killed, eight injured in accident

 A pilgrim was killed and eight others were injured when their mini-truck rammed into a stationary tractor trolley on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road near on Monday.

The pilgrims were returning to Muktsar from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh after paying obeisance at various shrines there when the accident occurred near Rampur Sunra village early this morning, police said.
The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Bittu from Muktsar, police said. The injured included five women.

 Two critically injured women had been referred to a hospital in Jalandhar.
