Anshul Garg, a resident of Panchkula, came first in the tricity by securing 100 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT), the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

Garg, who is one of the 10 all-India toppers, is currently pursuing his graduation in engineering from Ropar IIT.

The tricity continued with its tradition of producing a 100 percentile scorer this year as well. The results were available at 3am on Wednesday.

Sharing his success mantra, Garg said, "I am feeling on top of the world right now. I feel relieved that my year's hard work has paid off and I have achieved this landmark. I studied hard. I did not study 24 hours, but gave quality time when I studied."

Adding to this exuberance, Hirdesh Madan, head (north), Bulls Eye, said, "Anshul was a regular student and we were expecting very good results from Ropar IIT. In fact, the tricity results are the best in a decade as more than 25 students of the region have scored more than 99 percentile. This is a record in itself."

Shashank Gupta, who has secured 99.99 percentile, stood second in the tricity among those who cleared CAT-2012.

He did his graduation from PEC University of Technology in electrical engineering and is currently working in Future First. His father, Sanjeev Gupta, is a general manager and his mother, Dr Deepti Gupta, is a professor of English. His likes reading, playing tennis and surfing Internet. He regularly studied for three hours daily with concentration.

Another candidate to have achieved the feat of near-perfection is Abhinav Gupta, a student of PEC, who has secured 99.97 percentile in the exam.

Abhinav expressed a sense of relief upon seeing the results, "I have worked extremely hard for this examination and in a way I feel relieved on seeing the result. Having seen my fair share of tough times in life, this comes as a big relief in life and I am really looking forward to a great future now."

As far as the calls go, Kozikhode IIM was the first institute to come out with its list of preliminary stage and none of the other IIMs have come out with their calls so far.

Other IIMs are also expected to declare their results within next 48 hours. The CAT entrance exam is not only the gateway for entry into 13 IIMs, but more than 100 colleges across the country also accept the CAT score.

The exam in the tricity was conducted at Indo-Global College in Abhipur, Mohali. More than 2 lakh students appeared for the exam from all across the country. Approximately 9,000 students appeared from the tricity.
