Parents of children seeking admission in Holy Family Convent School, Rupnagar, blocked traffic on the Nangal road to protest against the school's decision to fix an age limit for admission to nursery class here on Friday.

Parents claimed that the school authorities had been admitting only those born between December 31, 2010 to June 30, 2011, as a result of which their children were unable to get admission.

On getting information about the traffic blockade, Rupnagar deputy superintendant of police (DSP) Harbir Singh Atwal and deputy district education officer (DEO) Major Singh reached the spot.

The school authorities assured the parents that the matter would be sorted out after December 8 as the principal was on leave till then. No prospectus would be distributed till her return, they said. The parents lifted the blockade after this assurance.
