Parmar varsity celebrates World Environment Day

Members of save, protect and conserve environment- SPACE club, department of environmental science, college of forestry of Dr. YS Parmar university of horticulture and forestry, Nauni, celebrated World Environment Day to make students aware about the environment and its conservation on the campus. 


The programme started with a quiz competition, slogan writing competition and a key lecture on environmental awareness.  The winners of the quiz competition were the team AGNI, with Anchal, Aditya and Priyanka.   Sharmila won the slogan competition and her slogan was “VARIKSH HAI DHARA KE BHUSHAN, IN SE HAI JEEVAN ROSHAN”. 

In the afternoon, the key lecture was delivered by Tanvi Kapoor, general secretary of SPACE club.  She highlighted various environmental issues and the way to combat them.  Dr GS Shamet, dean, college of forestry, was the chief guest of the function and he stressed on the various global concerns and protecting environment. 

Dr SK Bhardwaj, professor and head, department of environmental science, inspired the students to become active agents to protect the environment to enjoy safer and more prosperous future.  Dr Mohinder Singh, Dr SC Verma, Dr RK Aggarwal, and Dr Meena Thakur, also participated in the function.
