The department of anatomy, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, will conduct two-day seventh IJ Dewan Memorial Educational Workshop entitled "Organs Talk-Time to take Prevention" from Wednesday.
According to a press release by the PGIMER, it is a primary preventive programme aimed to provide awareness among our younger generation about the ill effects of alcoholism, smoking, junk food, driving without helmet, excessive use of mobile and misuse of antibiotics.
"Normal and diseased organs like cirrhotic liver, smoker's lung, lungs affected with cancer, brain with extradural hematoma, osteoporotic bones, aorta with plaques and fatty heart, along with elaborative posters, will be displayed at the workshop. In the morning session (8am to 1pm), students from various schools of Chandigarh, SAS Nagar and Ambala will be attending this awareness programme and will be motivated to adopt healthy lifestyle," said Dr Daisy Sahni, head, anatomy department.
Informative booklets emphasising healthy living will be distributed to students and they will be encouraged to share information with their family and friends. The workshop will be open for the public in the evening session (2pm- 4.30pm).
