Poetic symposium, book release mark Sahitya Akademi function

Prominent poets of the region participated and read out their choicest verses at the 23rd edition of monthly literary and poetic symposium organised by the Haryana Sahitya Akademi here on Sunday.

Akademi director Shyam Sakha Shyam welcomed the audience and introduced chief guest Dr Brijendra Tripathi as an acclaimed litterateur and vice-president of the National Sahitya Akademi, Delhi.

Shyam also held an interactive session Ru Ba Ru with Tripathi.Speaking on the propagation of Hindi literature, Tripathi said, “A lot more is required to be done by other state academies who must emulate the working and programmes of Haryana Sahitya Akademi.” Tripathi also recited three poems in the poetic symposium which featured eminent poets like Meera Gautam, Kidar Nath Kidar, Jagmohan Chopra, Subhash Rastogi, Urmil Kaushik, Rashmi Kharbanda, Jaswinder Shar ma, Satnam Singh and Shaym Sakha Shyam.

A Hindi novel titled ‘Salute’ authored by Urmil Kaushik was also released on the occasion.The novel, structured in the rustic Haryanvi ambience, depicts the usual struggles of any soldier’s widow. It also shows Haryana’s rich legacy of serving in the armed forces.
