The police have released the sketches of three people accused for allegedly kidnapping a 22-year-old post-graduate student of the Panjab University and having made a bid to rape her in a moving car on Saturday.

The sketches were prepared on the description of the accused as given by the victim. The victim is a resident of Sector-47. Her father is employed as the junior warrant officer in the Indian Air Force.

Giving details of the incident, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (South) Surjit Malik said the victim was forcibly shoved into a car by three people around 7pm when she had gone to the Sector-47 market.

In the police complaint, the victim said the miscreants tried to rape her while the car was on the move. For over two hours the car kept roaming in different parts of city. Having failed after making several attempts, the accused threw her out of the car near Sector 26.

The passerbys informed the police and the victim was rushed to the government multi-specialty hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16; her medical report confirmed sexual assault.

The victim identified one of the accused as she had slapped him on March 14 in Sector-47 market after he had passed lewd remarks.

DSP Malik said the police had started looking for the accused based on the sketches. A case under Sections 363, 354-A and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the Sector-31 police station.
