Cops continue to remain at the receiving end. On Saturday night, one of the two cops from the proclaimed offender (PO) cell who went to nab a woman PO in Sector 8 was manhandled.

The police said the cops went to arrest Satnam Kaur, who was wanted in a cheque-bounce case. But as the police reached her house, her son Dharamveer started arguing with the cops. Following a verbal spat, Dharamveer manhandled head constable Ramesh Kumar.

In the meantime, Kaur managed to escape from the spot.

The police have arrested property dealer Dharamveer for allegedly misbehaving and assaulting the police and obstructing in them from performing duty. A case in this regard was registered at the Sector-3 police station.

In the past six months, more than 10 incidents have been reported where cops were assaulted. So far this year, only five such incidents have come to fore.

On January 20, a head constable was thrashed and beaten up by two vegetable vendors after the victim told them to remove their cycle-carts at Dhanas.

Earlier last month, five youngsters thrashed a constable of the IRB while he was on his way home in his car on the dividing road of Sector 37 and 38.
