The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Thursday arrested an engineer of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and a patwari for allegedly receiving bribe in separate cases.

The Jalandhar VB unit team led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Nirmaljit Singh arrested Sarabjit Singh, a subdivisional officer (SDO) in the PSPCL, posted at Bhogpur in Jalandhar district, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 at his office, a VB spokesman said.

The VB had arrested two clerks of the PSPCL last week in graft cases.

Laying another trap, the VB arrested patwari Jagdev Singh while he was accepting Rs. 10,000 as bribe for a land mutation at Guru Har Sahai in Ferozepur district. The VB team was led by DSP Makhan Singh.
