Two weeks after charges of paper leak marred the entrance exam of the Panjab University’s three-year law course, the probe committee set up by the varsity continues to dawdle over the submission of its report.

Moreover, PU dean, university instructions and registrar AK Bhandari, who was heading the panel, is heading a university delegation to the United Kingdom and will not return until June 28, compounding the problem. The university was scheduled to declare the results of the examination on June 21.

Sources say that the panel, which has held two meetings so far, has not found clinching evidence in the matter. A top official further said that with vice-chancellor Arun Kumar Grover, whom the committee will now approach to take a final decision, also not in the city, the matter is now in limbo.

“A committee is probing the complaints. While the examination branch has already kept the results ready, they will be declared only after deliberations at the top level,” said PU controller of examinations Parvinder Singh, who also holds the additional charge of registrar, adding that a decision would be taken soon. The university had conducted the examination for its three-year law course on June 9 for 597 seats in PU’s department of laws, PU regional centres of Muktsar, Ludhiana and Bajwara in Hoshiarpur. . However, following rumours of a paper leak, several student organisations approached the V-C, who then set up the panel.
