In an embarrassment to Punjab government, local bodies minister Anil Joshi on Thursday threatened to protest against taxation system in the state, accusing it of "ruining" the trading community.

Coming in support of traders, Joshi said that he will join them in their protest against the Punjab Government next week if their demands were not met by Monday.

The BJP minister, in a statement, confirmed that he would join the trader's protest since they were not getting justice for a long time.

He urged the Punjab government to stop collecting 'Advance tax' from traders, saying this policy has virtually ruined them economically and would further damage the trade.

He said that he would prefer to extend support to the traders than to remain in the government as Cabinet Minister.
