Complementing and honouring the young NCC cadets today at Punjab Raj Bhavan for their performance in the Republic Day parade and Prime Minister rally held in New Delhi, the Punjab governor and UT administrator Shivraj V Patil said that there was no doubt that NCC training inculcated the qualities of character, leadership discipline and the spirit of patriotism in cadets and thus makes them responsible citizens.

He said besides discipline, liberty was also equally important. He said balance had to be maintained between the both to get desired results.

Describing youth as a vital part of every society, Patil said: "NCC organisation is not only confined to impart military training to the youngsters but it also equips the youth to undertake social service activities to serve the humanity in a better way."

He said it was possible only due to the relevant training and inspiration given by the NCC organisation that our cadets are able to discharge important duties such as regulating traffic, telecommunication services, civil defence, night patrolling etc during national crises.

Patil said, he was happy to know that the Punjab government had already started four new NCC units in the state and given land and funds for the construction of two world class NCC training academies at Malout and Ropar.

Lauding the role of the officers and concerned staff, who worked hard and made these young cadets, capable of taking part in the Republic Day parade, Patil also congratulated the NCC cadets who have made us proud by winning maximum medals as compared to other states.

OMG! MSG is finally here

For once, Salman bhai must be having sleepless nights, and Shahrukh Khan must already be counting his days in the industry. PK or no PK, Aamir ‘sincere’ Khan would probably be the only Khan of the troika who would somehow find a way to remain in the industry despite this tsunami. Even Rajinikanth must be mulling retirement after all.Writes Aarish Chhabra
