Rahul to meet Punjab ex-servicemen on Feb 24

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will meet ex-servicemen of Punjab here on February 24, the party announced.

During his visit, Rahul will meet the ex-servicemen, who will express their gratitude for the implementation fo one rank one pension scheme for army men in the country, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said on Friday.

Ex-servicemen from all districts of Punjab will attend the meet and share dinner with Rahul, he said.

Punjab was the biggest beneficiary of the one rank one pension scheme as the highest number of ex-servicemen live here, Bajwa said, adding that Rahul had taken personal interest in issue and persuaded UPA government to implement the scheme.

A total of 14 lakh retired and 25 lakh serving army personnel in India will get benefits of scheme, he said.
