Former cabinet minister and sitting BJP MLA Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday said the first railway budget of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government marked the beginning of ‘achhe din.’

In a press statement, the former Punjab BJP president said the budget presented by union railway minister Sadananda Gowda was realistic, keeping in view the ground situation and economic plight of the railways. He said an attempt had been made to modernise the railways and initiate premium, high-speed and bullet trains as well without burdening the masses. The union minister, Kalia said, had opened up new vistas in the field of education by introducing a railway university and special attempt had been made for the security of passengers by introducing automatic doors.
