Rains lash Punjab, Haryana

Rains today lashed several parts of Punjab and Haryana as mercury hovered above normal levels in both states.


Amritsar in Punjab received 55 mm of rains as the maximum temperature in the city settled at 36.2 degrees celsius, two notches above normal, the weather office said.

Ludhiana and Patiala recorded highs of 35.3 and 35.1 degrees celsius respectively, it said.

Ambala, Hisar and Narnaul in Haryana received 4 mm, 12mm and 21 mm of rains as maximum temperatures settled at 34.2, 34.5 and 33 degrees celsius respectively.

Humid conditions prevailed in the union territory of Chandigarh which recorded a maximum temperature of 34 deg C, the Met office said.

It predicted light to moderate rains at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next couple of days.
