Caught up in a whirling vortex of the upward spiral of rapes, another minor of Haryana falls prey to the evil intentions of a married man here.

The local police have booked a Balmiki Majri resident for allegedly raping a Class-6 student of a local government school for the past several months. The girl is reported to be pregnant.

Assistant sub-inspector Karan Singh Rana said Deepak has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code on Saturday, adding that the suspect was absconding.

He said the suspect, a neighbour of the victim, was married with a daughter.

Local residents said the victim, who had lost her father a few years ago, had complained of abdomen pain recently, after which her grandmother took her to a doctor.

They said during check-up, doctors found her pregnant, following which she told her grandmother that the suspect was exploiting her sexually for the past several months.

She told her that the suspect had threatened her against divulging the details to anyone, adding that she was scared of him.

Officials said investigations were on and the suspect would soon be arrested.

Bypoll results could impact BJP prospects in assembly elections

The outcome of the assembly bypolls held in neighbouring Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh has come as a blow to a buoyed up BJP that is harbouring dreams of forming next government in Haryana. In the BJP-ruled Rajasthan, the saffron party could win only one seat out of four and in Uttar Pradesh it could only win three out of 11 assembly seats.
