Punjab deputy chief minister and president of Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday said the overwhelming and peaceful response of rural voters for zila parishad and block samiti elections had signalled landslide victory of the SAD-BJP coalition.

Congratulating the Punjabis for rejecting the Congress party and its 'declared and undeclared allies' in the elections, the SAD president said largely peaceful and resurgent voting in the rural heartland of Punjab had exposed the malicious propaganda of Congress party that was bent upon painting a gloomy picture of the state.

The deputy chief minister said he had clearly instructed to brook no interference in the most important democratic exercise in the rural heartland.

Thanking the people of Punjab for putting their stamp of approval on development agenda of the SAD-BJP government he said reposing of faith in these elections by electorate on the progressive policies of SAD-BJP policies had given them strength and energy to carry forward their mission.
