Three Class-7 students of Delhi Public School (DPS) here were booked on Tuesday on the charge of sodomising a classmate.

The crime came to light when the 12-year-old victim's mother found a suicide note, in which the boy mentioned that he had been physically abused by three of his classmates for the past several months. Timely intervention by the parents prevented the boy from taking the extreme step.

Enraged by the disclosure, the victim's family members reached the school and smashed windowpanes, besides roughing up the school staff, including principal Kiran Dalal. Later, they blocked the Rohtak-Jind road (National Highway No 71) for an hour.

The protesters lifted the blockade after superintendent of police (SP) Vivek Sharma reached the spot and assured them of a thorough inquiry into the incident.

Foot-in-mouth disease among humans

The foot-and-mouth disease afflicts cows, buffaloes and sheep and causes them to break out in acute fever and blisters and could be fatal. Whereas the foot-in-mouth disease is known to attack us humans as we often shoot off our mouths, resulting in embarrassment. One may think that the tendency to say the wrong thing, at the wrong time, takes some doing, but actually it is a common malady and afflicts us all, at some time or the other. Writes Pallavi Singh.
