Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said separate office buildings for zila parishads will be established at the district level. These offices would be equipped with the latest infrastructure, he said.
Rakhra, while addressing a gathering during bhog of akhand path at Gurdwara Amb Sahib here on Wednesday, said, "Like cities, state villages will be equipped with modern facilities and Rs. 10,000 crore will be spent on rural development."
The panchayat minister said the state government was working towards the development of villages. He added that maps of all villages had been uploaded on the Internet and even people living abroad could see the ongoing developmental work in villages.
Rakhra also said, "The development will be thoroughly planned. Each house will be numbered and a dharamshala will be set up in every village. Common marriage palaces will also be built to reduce people's expenditure during weddings."
Chief parliament secretary NK Sharma, who was also present on the occasion, said the Punjab deputy chief minister would inaugurate the International Hockey Stadium worth Rs. 50 crore in SAS Nagar on September 27.
