A bag containing Rs. 3.5 lakh was allegedly stolen after smashing the windowpanes of an SUV parked near a temple in Sector 45 on Sunday night. Car owner Pawan Kumar, a resident of Sector 15, Panchkula, said he had gone inside the temple at about 9.15pm after leaving the bag in his car.

Police sources said footage of CCTV cameras installed outside the temple were being scrutinised, but the car was parked out of the camera's range.

Similar incidents have been reported from across the city in the last one month, including at least three from the Sector-17 market. On October 24, thieves took away a laptop after smashing the windows of a car at Manimajra.
