Chief minister Virbhadra Singh informed the House on Tuesday that the government had sanctioned `3 crore relief for victims of floods in Boheliyon, Shambhunala and Satiwala Rukhdi areas of Nahan. Floods occurred on August 6 and 7 in these areas due to heavy rainfall.

Replying to a call attention motion moved by Nahan legislator Bindal, the chief minister said a high-level committee constituted under the deputy commissioner of Sirmaur for addressing the issue, had recommended that the government should construct check dams on the Nallah in Nahan. He said the committee had also recommended that the lower area of the Nallah be kept free from inhabitations after seeking a no-objection certificate from villagers.

He said the committee had also recommended constructing bridges over National Highway-72 in the wake of heavy rainfall. Singh said the committee had recommended removing drinking water pipes from Shambhunala.
Singh informed the House that the district administration had sanctioned `2 lakh for constructing a check dam and `3 lakh for clearing the flood debris.
