Former Punjab BJP president Rajinder Bhandari said here on Thursday that the six-member SAD-BJP committee formed earlier this week by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had been entrusted with the task of finding out why the alliance performed below par in Punjab in the Lok Sabha polls despite the nationwide Modi wave.

Bhandari, vice-chairman of the Planning Board, is a member of this committee. The panel has three members each from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the BJP.

Addressing a press conference, Bhandari said the committee would visit various cities and villages of the state and talk to the people about the public outrage against the state government over sand mining, property tax and the drug menace.

The committee will submit its report to chief minister. District BJP president Praveen Bansal was also present during the press conference.
