SAD core committee meets on civic polls

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday held a meeting of its core committee and deliberated on the party’s strategy and organisational preparations for the forthcoming civic polls in the state, the dates for which are yet to be announced.

The meeting, chaired by party president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, took a close look at issues likely to form the nucleus of the electoral campaign, as per an SAD spokesperson.

Sukhbir asked senior leaders to further streamline the party’s electoral machinery at the grassroots level. Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal invited suggestions for further streamlining the administration and the delivery of government services.

Sukhbir also discussed the feedback received from the cadre and party leaders during the three-day marathon sessions about the Lok Sabha poll outcome.

Party leaders Charanjit Singh Atwal, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Tota Singh, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Daljit Singh Cheema, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and Sucha Singh Langah also attended the meeting.
