The SAD on Wednesday dissolved all its overseas NRI wings as party president Sukhbir Singh Badal took this decision at a meeting here.

The SAD has now decided to send a five to six member party committee to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom soon to interact with the Punjabi community there for their views on the party’s new NRI organisational structure, SAD secretary Daljit Singh Cheema said.

He said the committee would submit its suggestions to the party chief following which the new wings would be constituted. During the course of deliberations held with the party’s Doaba leadership at the party office, there were complaints that a few people who led the party’s NRI wings abroad were in fact living and doing business in Punjab. Following this, the party chief took a decision to have a re-look at NRI wings and reconstitute them afresh.
