Sangrur-Khanouri road to be four-laned

The Punjab government has initiated the process for four-laning of the Sangrur-Khanouri road.


Announcing this here on Monday, PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said the 60-km-long highway leading to New Delhi through Haryana would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 600 crore. He said all initial formalities of the project were being completed on priority and the project would be completed by June 2016.

Dhillon said 33 road overbridges had been completed at a cost of Rs. 565 crore, six road over-bridges were in progress at an estimated cost of Rs. 110 crore of which four would be completed during the current financial year and the remaining two in the next fiscal year.

He said three New ROBs were proposed to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 95 crore in the coming year.

The minister said seven high-level bridges on the Sutlej at Sarai Ka Pattan and Makhu and a multi-lane high bridge on the Upper Bari Doab Canal at Amritsar have been completed at a cost of Rs. 170 crore.

He said four high-level bridges -- the one on the Sutlej at Mattewara, Ropar Byepass, over the Beas at Dhanoa Pattan and the one over the Chakki near Mirthal -- were in progress at an estimated cost of Rs. 270 crore. He said that of these, two would be completed in the current financial year and the other two during the next financial year.
