SAS Nagar woman held captive, raped

A 22-year-old resident of SAS Nagar was held captive and raped repeatedly by a 50-year-old man for at least three days, after being lured with the promise of a better job, police said on Sunday.

The victim managed to escape the accused’s house and filed a complaint with the Basti Jodhewal police.

Giving details, inspector Harwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Basti Jodhewal police station, said the accused, Gurcharan Singh, was a threewheeler driver, while his wife ran a boutique in their rented accommodation at Basant Vihar of Basti Jodhewal.

“The victim, who hails from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, was employed at a mobile service providing company in Chandigarh and lived as a paying guest in Kharar, SAS Nagar,” he added. Therefore, the victim reached Ludhiana around three days ago,” the SHO claimed.
