School kids take to crime for fast food, fancy clothes

The police on Friday claimed success by arresting three snatchers. Two of them are from Abheypur village while one is from Zirakpur. They are studying in classes 9 and 10, but in different schools.


The youths disclosed that their pocket money was quite less and they were fond of new clothes and fast food which forced them to indulge in snatching.

On Friday evening, two motorcycle-borne youths snatched a purse from a girl near Amartex Chowk, Sector 19, and fled. But the rear tyre of the motorcycle got jammed and both fell down. One of them fled the spot, but the police and public apprehended him.

On his disclosure, the police arrested one from Abheypur and other from Zirakpur.

They confessed to four different snatching incidents. The police also recovered four mobile phones from them which they snatched from different sectors.

Meanwhile, the police have increased patrolling to nab snatchers. ACP Virender Sangwan said other gangs of snatchers would be arrested soon.
