The programme is aimed at deepening mutual understanding among young people and to lay the foundations of a bond between the youngsters of the two Asian nations.

The circular issued by the board said a group of 182 students will visit Japan as part of JENESYS.

For instance, the board plans to send a batch of 25 football players, along with two supervisors, from October 20-28. Only male participants are allowed for this session.

A group of 87 students and three teachers will be set for a session on traditional heritage art. Each school has been asked to nominate only one boy and one girl student for the aforementioned programme.

Thereafter, in December, 80 students will be sent in three batches to participate in basketball, lawn tennis and volleyball events. The last date for nominations is July 23, 2014 and there are no extensions beyond the stipulated date.

Nominated students must be from above Class 9. Teachers must not be over 54 years. All expenses are to be borne by the Government of Japan, including air travel, boarding and lodging in Japan.
