“As we entered the parking of the hospital at about 9.30pm, a group of about five persons who were already present in the hospital attacked us with rods, baseball bats and smashed the window panes of our car,” said Satpal Singh, hailing from Nagiari village who sustained head injuries.

The police have registered a case at the Phase 1 police station on his statement against Jagtar Singh alias Fauji, Maninder Singh, Satwinder Singh and about 10 other unidentified persons.

Police sources claim that both the groups were nursing a grudge against each other owing to political rivalry since the panchayat elections.

Attack offshoot of scuffle in Dari village

The attack was an offshoot of an argument followed by a scuffle between Vijay, Satish and Chetan, in Dari village, at about 7.30pm on Fiday night with Lakhwinder, a resident of Nagiari village.
Vijay, a resident of Dari village, in his complaint to the police said that on Friday evening he was buying a chocolate when Lakhwinder along with his friends abused him. When he objected to their language they manhandled him and hit him with a rod on the head.

While Lakhwinder, who has been accused of assault, said, “My uncle and I (Lakhwinder) were sharing a light moment and laughing on a joke while Vijay started arguing that they were making fun of him. Lakhwinder alleged Vijay along with his relatives Satish and Chetan attacked him.” Lakhwinder sustained minor injuries.

Following this Satpal along Jai and Shiv had taken injured Vijay, Satish and Chetan to Sohana police station to get a complaint registered. They were asked to get the medical examination of the injured done so all six people came to the civil hospital in two cars at about 9.30pm.

They alleged that as they reached the hospital where Lakhwinder was already present with his accomplices and attacked them.

Police have registered cases against both Lakhwinder as well as Vijay and their accomplices.
