Preparing ground for the August-16 Haryana Nirmaan Rally at Jind, Rajya Sabha member Birender Singh has said the areas of Kalka and Pinjore did not progress as they were part of Kumari Selja's constituency when she was Lok Sabha MP from Ambala.

"This region did not progress as it was Selja's constituency. Congress MLAs had worked for relatives and their children. The CM (Bhupinder Singh Hooda) even took the Opposition in its fold. No one speaks against him. The CLU (change of land use) has become synonymous with corruption," he said.

When asked about Selja, as she also has been raising the same issues as him, Birender Singh said, "Selja has also been raising the same issues. But I took it as a challenge. Now, I have reached a point of no return. Selja must fight while staying in the party. I have been given a show-cause notice, to which I have replied. The Congress is yet to expel me."

He added that, "The centralisation of power is not liked in a party like the Congress. Hooda is Congress and Congress is Hooda in Haryana. But the people have given their verdict in the Lok Sabha elections by defeating the party in nine out of 10 seats."

Taking a jibe at Hooda by calling him a 'Mauni Baba', Birender Singh said whenever he opens his mouth he utters nonsense.

Asked on assurances from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he said he was yet to join the party. "The Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) and BJP tie-up shall continue in the assembly elections but the BJP is capable of coming to power on its own with the help of Modi' s aura," he said.

On the pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah on the banner of Haryana Nirmaan Rally, he said it was being organised under the banner of Yuva Shakti and Shah is the chief guest for the function. "So, he will be there on the banner, and Modi is PM so his picture shall also be there. It is natural," he said.

When asked about Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said, "She wanted me to stay in the party and I had already announced that I will not contest elections under Hooda."

'BJP should not declare CM candidate before results'

When asked about Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, he said, "Why do you point out one Robert Vadra. 30,000 acres of CLUs (change of land use) were distributed. Only the CM is accused in the corruption."

On whether he still has dream of becoming chief minister, Birender Singh said, "I still have a dream." In reply to another question, he said the BJP should not declare its chief ministerial candidate before the assembly elections and the CM should be chosen after the election result is out.
