A 45-year-old man on Sunday hurled a shoe at the dais from where chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was addressing a gathering during a function at Dabwali in Sirsa district. However, the shoe fell in the security area, a few metres short of the dais.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when the chief minister was speaking at a ceremony organised to lay the foundation stone of a railway over-bridge. Raja Ram Kasnai, a resident of Nathusari village in Sirsa, who was sitting behind the media gallery, suddenly stood up and hurled his shoe at the stage, while raising anti-Hooda slogans.

Before he could hurl the other, he, however, was overpowered by the police. Sources said that Raja Ram was pretending to be a Congress worker. He was detained for questioning.

Reacting to the incident, Hooda called it a "black spot".
This is the second such attack on the chief minister in this month. On February 2, a 22-year-old man had slapped the CM during a road show in Panipat.

Angry with system?
Police sources said that Raja Ram, whose wife had remained the sarpanch of Nathusari village, was miffed with the Congress regime for the substandard material used in development works in his village. Ram was also an RTI activist and had sought details of several development works under the RTI. He had also even filed the nomination form as an independent candidate from Darba Kalan assembly seat in the past, but later withdrew in favour of Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal.
