SOPU members protest, demand to extend hostel entry timings for girls

 The Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) protested outside the administrative block for its various demands on Saturday.


Students demanded that the timings for night attendance and entry in the girls' hostels should be extended from 9:30pm to 10pm and girls should be allowed to stay with their fellow girl students of different hostel for one month.

SOPU campus president Arshnoor Dhillon said, "Currently, girl's are allowed to stay with a fellow girl student only for three days. We have demanded that the time period should be increased to one month."

The third demand of the student wing was regarding parking of vehicles in the hostels. They demanded that they should be given free access to the hostel parking. The revaluation fee of all departments should be uniform they demanded during the protest.

The protest continued for almost two hours and was taken back only after the varsity officials assured them to consider their demands.
