A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather at her residence in Mauli Jagran. Accused Sushil Kumar, who is a taxi driver, has been committing the crime for the past nine months.

The police have booked Sushil on the complaint of the mother of the girl, who is a student of Class 5.

Manimajra SHO Yashpal Sharma said, "The girl was raped by her stepfather at least four times while her mother was out of town. The medical examination of the minor has confirmed rape. A case has been registered."

The SHO said the incident came to light when the victim's mother noticed that her daughter had been avoiding her stepfather since long and was reluctant to stay alone at home.

After persistent questioning, the minor confided into her mother and alleged that Sushil Kumar had raped her at least four times.

The mother in her complaint said it all happened in March when she left her daughter back home while she went to visit Tirupathi temple in South for a few days. She again went to Tirupathi in October.

The police sources said after confirming the girl's allegation, her mother had a verbal spat with her husband Sushil Kumar, whom she had married six years ago after divorcing her first husband.

The SHO said, "On Sunday night, the victim's mother had an argument and fight with her husband. On Monday, when Sushil left for his work, the mother went to the police station and lodged a complaint with the police." Efforts were on to nab the accused, the police said.
