Taking cognisance of media reports about the issuance of an arms licence and passport on the basis of fake particulars to Sukhdev Singh Namdhari, alleged conspirator in the Delhi farmhouse shootout, Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Principal secretary, home, DS Bains has been told to conduct the probe and submit a report in 15 days, an official spokesman said here.

Sukhbir also directed the principal secretary to suggest concrete measures to check the recurrence of such lapses on the part of the state administration.

Namdhari had got his arms licence issued from the Rupnagar district authorities, while the Punjab police submitted the verification report for issuance of the passport by the regional office at Jalandhar.
