Sukhchain Singh Gill joins as SSP

Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill on Wednesday took over as the new Chandigarh senior superintendent of police (SSP).
Gill, a 2003-batch Punjab cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer with an MBBS degree from Government Medical College in Amritsar, was posted as the Hoshiarpur SSP. Gill edged past Babu Lal Meena and Inderbir Singh to secure the coveted spot.

Naunihal Singh would be repatriated to his parent state of Punjab after serving in Chandigarh for over three years.
Naunihal of the 1997 batch had joined as the UT SSP in 2010, and he then got promoted to the rank of deputy inspector general in April 2011.

Staff of aided colleges warn of agitation
