Surveillance team recovers 2 lakh, several boxes of liquor

Static surveillance teams constituted by the election department rounded up two people and recovered 2 lakh and liquor bottles in Chandigarh on Monday.


The static surveillance team of South headed by Parveen Mittal, executive magistrate, along with sub-inspector Jai Singh set up a naka near Sector 31/47 turn and recovered 54 boxes of liquor loaded in a truck (HR-68A-1529) driven by Pankaj, resident of Ramdarbar.

The central division team headed by SK Miglani, executive magistrate, along with sub-inspector Ramesh Kumar recovered 2.10 lakh from a car driven by Dinesh Jain, resident of Sector 18, at a naka laid near Mullapur Barrier.

All were handed over to the station house officers of the police stations concerned.



In the view of upcoming Lok Sabha elections and putting up of check posts, 115 cartons of liquor having 1,380 bottles were seized on Monday. The liquor was country made and the police had informed the election commission. The truck was filled with sand and the boxes were buried in that.
