Addressing a press conference to announce the summit, Punjab Industry & Commerce Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said  "We wish to showcase the quality initiatives taken by the department to promote technical education in Punjab at this summit. Besides, it should also serve as the perfect platform for exhibiting the potential and achievements of technical institutions in the state".

Mittal said he intended  making Punjab a global hub of higher education such that it attracts investment and students from other states and countries.

PTU, vice chancellor,  Dr. Rajneesh Arora, said the state has all the wherewithal required to emerge as a winner on the global higher education map and such summits should  help this cause.

"We, as one of the leading technical education universities, support its objectives wholeheartedly. We have been laying stress on greater industry-academia collaboration, entrepreneurship and placements. We shall highlight all of this at the forthcoming summit", said the VC.
