Lord John Russell said, “A proverb is one man’s wit and allmen’s wisdom”, and Winston Churchill said, “It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations”. Truly, these quotations and proverbs are very inspiring that evince us the right path of life. Moreover, they motivate us and keep us going.

We belong to the so-called modern and fast but confusing world. In such conditions, dealing with worries comes only with right attitude, proverbs and quotations can shape our attitude right.

I agree with my maternal grandmother who often says that writers must have done great research and hard work to create proverbs. It certainly involves a lot of thinking and time. There are unlimited sayings to inspire us for every single thing and every action we want to perform.

Let us look at some good examples. It has been rightly said, “Good seed makes a good crop”, and “Fine feathers make fine birds”. How true! If children are brought up well with good moral values, they will certainly be good human beings. It all depends upon the upbringing by the parents. “All things come to those who wait”, is an early 16th century proverb which teaches us that patience is a great virtue. One must be patient and calm.

“The best doctors are Dr Diet, Dr Quiet, and Dr Merryman”. It is a 16th century proverb. This inspires us for a healthy lifestyle. There are many such examples which may never end. However, I would like to add the words of William Hamilton who said, “On this earth, there is nothing great but man; in man there is nothing great but mind”. This infuses us towards positive thinking. How we take things in life matters the most.

These old sayings and proverbs are no less than a teacher, a guru or even our parents who always ensure to direct us to the right and meaningful path. We must be thankful to the writers and philosophers who have offered us so many lessons that have proved very positive for us.
