The tribunal disposed off the complaint of the widow Durgawati, 39, her two daughters and a son, filed under the MACT Act, to also pay 7.5% interest on the pending amount from December 2012, when the claim was filed, to the date of realisation.

Balkishan (40), a machine operator, was killed after being hit by a truck on December 13, 2012.

The driver Badal Ray and Deepak Aggarwal, the owner of the truck, had maintained that a false case had been registered against them.

Even the insurance company, the New India Assurance Company Limited, had said that the driver at the time of the incident did not a valid and effective driving license to drive the vehicle and thus was not liable to pay any compensation.
