A robbery at the house of a friend has rekindled the memories of Ramlal Gupta, a resident of phase 4, whose parents were murdered in a similar incident at his home eight years ago. The police have yet to solve both cases.

Ramlal, who is in the same business as Dharampal Gupta whose home was robbed on Tuesday, said: “The moment I heard the news of the robbery at my friends place I was reminded of that day in May 1006 when armed intruders broke into my home and butchered my parents, both of whom were in their early seventies and lived alone, before fleeing with their valuables. I was not in town on that day”.

Lambasting the police for its failure to nab the culprits even after such a long period, he said wryly: “If the cops haven’t been able to find my parents’ killers even after eight long years, they should hand over the case to other investigative agencies”.

Meanwhile, Mohali deputy superintendent of policeAlam Vijay Singh said: “I’ve just joined my posting in SAS Nagar. We’re still investigating the case and have managed to get some vital leads. Meanwhile, efforts are on to trace the suspects. We are also looking into the previous investigations held into the 2006 robbery and murder case”.
