Two get 10 years RI for attempt to murder

Additional sessions judge Ajaib Singh sentenced two persons to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) each in an attempt to murder case here on Wednesday.


The police had registered a case under sections 307, 324, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC at Morinda police station in this regard.

The accused have also been imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 each. In default of payment of fine, the accused would have to further undergo imprisonment for two years.

The court, however, acquitted third accused Mohan Singh.

According to the prosecution, accused Simranjit Singh and Hakam Singh of Kalaran village along with their servant Mohan Singh of Bhattian village falling under Khamano police station of Fatehgarh Sahib district, attacked Prem Singh of Kalaran with sharp-edged weapons on July 31, 2010, at Kanjla village with an intention to kill him. Prem Singh sustained injuries in the attack.
