Two militants killed in fierce encounter in north Kashmir

Two militants were killed in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said here on Saturday.


They said troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Nailgam in Pattan area of north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Saturday morning following a tip-off about the presence of militants.

When the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire with automatic weapons.
Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter two militants were killed so far.

The operation was still going on when reports last came in.
