The University Business School (UBS) received a whopping donation of Rs. 1 crore from its alumnus, now State Bank of India chairman Pratip Chaudhuri, during his visit to UBS on Thursday. The amount would be used for setting up the new building of the department in Panjab University's campus in Sector 25.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhuri said knowledge was a thing of sharing and the more we get the more we should share. He said, "I am really grateful to my department and whatever I am today is because I studied here in the department." SBI has been doing lots under the social responsibility scheme and we have decided to keep giving donations to UBS, he added.

PU vice-chancellor Prof Arun K Grover and UBS chairperson AK Vashisht were also present at the meeting.

Sharing happiness, Vashisht said the department which was presently spread in three different buildings was in need of identity, following which a proposal to have an independent building with seminar halls was sent to the chairman SBI, who agreed to help the university towards setting-up a new building.

Chaudhuri said out of the profit of Rs. 11, 700 crore, SBI had contributed one percent for various social works including installing fans in the schools.

Encouraging the students to excel in their carrier, he said everyone should make the smallest possible contribution towards their school, college and university.
